About Climate Africa SOS (U) Ltd
Our journey, mission, and commitment to environmental sustainability in Uganda
Our Background
Climate Africa SOS (U) Ltd is a Ugandan company limited by guarantee (non-profit), established in 2019, dedicated to building climate resilient livelihoods for vulnerable youth. Operating in the Rwenzori and Tooro sub-regions, the organization addresses the growing economic impact of climate change on communities that rely heavily on rain-fed agriculture.
As weather patterns become increasingly unpredictable, many young people especially refugees and women are losing stable sources of income. Climate Africa responds by equipping them with practical entrepreneurship skills and supporting the development of alternative, sustainable livelihoods beyond traditional farming.
Since our inception, we have grown from a small community initiative to a recognized non profit organization making significant contributions to climate action, wetland restoration, forest conservation, and sustainable development in our region and beyond.
The organization combines skills development, enterprise support, and market-oriented production. It trains youth in business creation, agro-processing, food production, and value addition, enabling them to generate income independently.
A key initiative underway is the establishment of an Industrial Development & skilling Centre in Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement, designed to provide shared access to production equipment, workspace, and business support services. This hub will enable youth particularly young women to engage in processing, packaging, branding, and digital commerce, unlocking higher value economic opportunities.
Through this integrated model, Climate Africa aims to support over 250 youths and 1 00 refugee households monthly with income generating opportunities while promoting inclusive local industrialization in underserved communities.
